I offer an initial 15 minute phone consultation at no cost, for the purpose of introductions and to discuss your reasons for seeking treatment. This call will help to determine if you would like to schedule an initial evaluation. I will always recommend the best treatment option for you, upon initial consultation and over the course of working together. If I believe that your treatment needs may indicate a certain treatment that I do not provide at this time, I will discuss these options with you and provide referrals.

Clinical Services

Evaluation

Treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation to best understand your specific treatment needs and determine clinical recommendations. I conduct these assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. While I may provide a clinical diagnosis, my treatment approach focuses on a patient’s presenting concerns in the context of the individual—biological factors, family history, developmental history, personality dynamics, and other relevant personal data.

A psychiatric evaluation for children and adolescents includes an individual assessment as well as collateral interviews with primary guardian(s) to learn about the young person and understand their presenting challenges from their perspective as well as from the adults in their life and to understand these challenges in the context of their family of origin, home environment, educational setting, and peer relationships.

Psychotherapy

I believe in a comprehensive and highly individualized approach to mental health treatment. If we choose to begin working together, our first steps will be to determine an agreed upon understanding of the purpose of psychotherapy and on our approach to fulfilling this purpose. I practice psychodynamic/insight-oriented psychotherapy, as informed by my clinical education and continued training. I am additionally trained in cognitive-behavioral therapies (for children, adolescents, and adults) and incorporate components of these therapeutic frameworks in alignment with your treatment needs.

Medication

Medication treatment of psychiatric symptoms can be beneficial in combination with psychotherapy, when it is indicated. Following an initial evaluation, I will provide clinical recommendations and review all treatment options as well as risks and benefits to ensure that you have all of the information you need to make an informed-decision about treatment with medication.

I provide medication management as an individual service or as an adjunct treatment to individual psychotherapy. I often work with individuals who are currently engaged in psychotherapy with another provider and are interested in starting medication, adjusting and optimizing current medication treatment, or discontinuing medication safely.
